Common Questions
Everything you need to know about joining our outdoor recreation groups in Ireland
Not at all—we run walks at different fitness levels, from gentle 6km routes to more challenging 12km hikes. Most of our members are at a steady, conversational pace where you can actually chat with people rather than sprint. When you sign up, just let us know what suits you and we’ll match you with the right group.
Our birdwatching outings are 15 per person, which covers expert guidance and access to premium observation sites. You’ll get transport arranged to locations like Wexford Wildfowl Reserve or Skellig Michael. If you don’t have binoculars yet, we can recommend affordable options or you’re welcome to share with group members as you’re learning.
We keep groups to 8-12 people so everyone gets meaningful telescope time and you’re not just standing around. It’s intimate enough to make friends but big enough to have interesting conversations about what we’re seeing. Weather dependent, of course—we reschedule if clouds roll in.
Absolutely—we’ve got everyone from complete beginners to fairly experienced artists. The whole point is to be outdoors, observe nature closely, and have a go. Our facilitators give gentle guidance on perspective and proportion, but there’s zero judgment here. Most people find sketching forces them to really see landscapes differently than a camera does.
Head to our contact page and tell us which activities interest you. We’ll send you a welcome pack with dates, meeting points, what to bring, and details about the group you’re joining. You’re also added to our WhatsApp group where everyone shares photos, tips, and real-time updates about upcoming outings.
We reschedule to the following week for hiking and sketching. Astronomy is trickier—we monitor forecasts and move the event if clouds are predicted. You’ll get a message at least 24 hours before if we’re postponing, and you can choose to join the rescheduled date or skip without any penalty.
